Using energy wisely is at the heart of how we operate. Across every hotel in our portfolio, we set clear reduction targets, follow internationally recognized energy management standards, and track our progress continuously — because what gets measured gets improved.
Our hotels are Green Globe certified and built with sustainability in mind — from natural materials and passive-cooling architecture to solar panels generating over 2,700 kW of clean power across our managed properties. We're expanding our renewable capacity further, while working with both our teams and guests to make energy-conscious choices part of everyday life.

Renewable energy offers real opportunity — cutting costs, lowering emissions, and making our remote island destinations more resilient. Strong energy performance also resonates with the growing number of travelers and investors who choose partners based on sustainability credentials. Smart technology and a clear Decarbonization Pathway give us the tools to go further, faster.
At the same time, we recognize the risks. Inadequate energy management can undermine our climate commitments and damage trust. Fluctuating energy prices and evolving regulations require us to stay agile and plan ahead.
We manage energy conservation and environmental performance in line with international standards by continuously monitoring energy consumption, implementing systematic energy-saving plans, and regularly evaluating performance. At SHR, we integrate innovation and technology into our operations to improve efficiency and minimize environmental impact.
In terms of design and architecture, we prioritize environmentally conscious design by incorporating natural ventilation and natural materials to reduce reliance on air conditioning. SAii Phi Phi Island Village is a strong example of this approach, with architecture designed to harmonize with the surrounding environment and local way of life.
As part of our energy management approach, SHR continues to adopt smart technologies to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In December 2025, SAii Lagoon Maldives implemented an intelligent energy management system to optimize air-conditioning operations in unoccupied areas. This initiative reduced cooling-related electricity consumption by 19,116 kWh and avoided approximately 9.75 tCO2e emissions by minimizing unnecessary compressor operation. Following the successful implementation, the Company plans to expand the technology to Hard Rock Hotel Maldives in 2026.
Beyond technology, we actively encourage participation from both employees and guests through ongoing communications, campaigns, and training programs to raise awareness and promote environmentally responsible behavior.
For the renewable energy, SHR has installed solar panels at several managed properties, including Santiburi Koh Samui, SAii Laguna Phuket, SAii Phi Phi Island Village, and CROSSROADS Maldives, supporting our long-term goal of increasing renewable energy use and reducing greenhouse gas emissions across our operations.
