Bangkok, 5 June 2020, – S Hotels and Resorts Public Company Limited or ‘SHR’, the hospitality arm of Singha Estate Public Company Limited, rolled out its 'Support, Safety, Stay' initiatives in preparation for its properties reopening across destinations. The initiatives range from hygiene measures, sustainable development activities to community-based activities. The Company also launched special offers including 'Buy 1 Get 1 Free' promotion with flexible booking conditions, that are available to all new reservations so that guests can plan their next stress-free holidays in advance.

S for Support

During this trying time, it has been very important for SHR to keep supporting local communities in its various destinations. 

In Thailand, Santiburi Koh Samui has been running a sustainability project in collaboration with a local school since January 2020 and provided a drinking water-cooling system to neighbouring villages. Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort donated essential supplies including facemasks to local villages. Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort supported the newly established Phuket field hospital bydonating personal protective equipment. Team members from Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort volunteered to clean a vacant block of land adjacent to the resort to help prevent the trash from making its way back into the ocean.

Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort provided food and cooking supplies to surrounding villages and collaborated with a nearby village chief to assist some of the most impoverished areas impacted by the economic downturn of COVID-19. 

In the Maldives, medical staff, facial masks and electric vehicles were sent to help the local authorities fight the pandemic. 

In the United Kingdom, some properties have continued their operations to host personnel from essential sectors.

On top of these initiatives, the properties have been actively communicating on their social media platforms to include fun and aspirational activities and to bring a little happiness to people while they are at home. For instance, a virtual reality resort tour and DIY videos were launched for the great joy of internet users. 

S for Safety

SHR has stepped up precautionary measures at all hotels and resorts globally. The Company believes in the utmost importance of the safety of guests and employees and has enhanced its hygiene standards to be in line with the World Health Organization and local health authorities. In Thailand for instance, Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort and Santiburi Koh Samui are already certificated by the Department of Health, Thailand Ministry of Public Health, and all other properties in the Kingdom are currently in the process of achieving this recognised hygiene standard certificate.  

The key measures include rigorous cleaning and sanitisation procedures of guest rooms. SHR focuses especially on frequent high-contact points such as elevator buttons, door handles, reception counters, bathrooms, and conference rooms. Hand sanitizers are now placed throughout the hotels from guest contact areas to hotel lobbies and conference space. Infrared thermometers, medical masks, and gloves are also available at front desks for guests and employees upon request. All new social distancing standards are now effective in every facility.
